Mr. Giometti is a highly rated civil litigation attorney, with over 33 years of experience, including more than 65 civil jury trials. Mr. Giometti is one of the most experienced civil trial lawyers in Colorado. He is highly experienced in handling all phases of civil litigation. His practice also includes publications of handbooks and articles, teaching professional seminars, and participation in professional organizations and committees. He has served as an expert witness in insurance bad faith cases, and he is active in the American Bar Association, serving as one of the vice chairs of the Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee.

Mark Honhart, Associate

Mr. Honhart is an experienced and accomplished civil litigation attorney with a diverse background in insurance defense litigation (automobile, personal injury, property damage and construction defect), insurance coverage issues, defamation law, commercial litigation, and constitutional issues. He has a record of success in federal and state courts of appeals and in trial courts at all levels. His practice also includes teaching professional education seminars for attorneys and insurance carriers.

Amanda Burke, Associate

Ms. Burke joined Gregory R. Giometti & Associates, P.C. in 2008 after serving a year as a law clerk to the Honorable Christopher Munch, of the First Judicial District of the State of Colorado. With the primary focus of her practice on civil litigation, Ms. Burke has handled a broad range of civil matters, including wrongful death cases, insurance bad faith claims, motor vehicle cases, premises liability disputes, defamation actions, medical and other professional malpractice cases, and insurance coverage issues. Ms. Burke has been invited to speak at various seminars and CLE programs, including presentations on complex damages issues specifically related to motor vehicle cases, and is a contributing author of the Colorado Courtroom Handbook for Civil Trials. Ms. Burke is a member of several professional associations, including the American Bar Association, Colorado Bar Association and Denver Bar Association.

Joseph Cox, Associate

Mr. Cox joined Gregory R. Giometti & Associates, P.C. in 2013 after graduating from Michigan State University College of Law.  In addition to having participated in an intensive two-year program in MSU’s Trial Practice Institute, Mr. Cox brings litigation experience to the firm from his work at MSU’s Civil Rights Clinic and with the state attorney’s office for Florida’s 20th Judicial Circuit.  While in law school, Mr. Cox was an Articles Editor for the Michigan State Law Review and was published in the Northwestern Interdisciplinary Law Review.  Mr. Cox also represented his school abroad, participating in an international program in Poland where he studied the intricacies of European law compared to American jurisprudence.  Mr. Cox is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, the Denver Bar Association and the American Bar Association.

John Mereness, Special Counsel

Mr. Mereness most recently joined Gregory R. Giometti and Associates, P.C. in 2014.  John Mereness was born in Montana and attended Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in 1993. Three years later he obtained his J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas with honors in 1996.

John began his legal career in Texas from 1996-2001, focusing his litigation practice in insurance defense (including auto, trucking, and oil and gas injury and death cases), insurance coverage, and construction disputes.  John and his family moved to Colorado in 2011 where he continued his practice focus upon construction disputes (including arbitrations lasting 5 weeks), mechanic’s lien disputes, surety claims, insurance defense litigation, coverage and bad faith litigation, as well as construction contract negotiations, and is a member in good standing with the American Bar Association, the Colorado Bar Association and the Denver Bar Association.

John has a strong and proven background in construction disputes and commercial litigation, and has successfully negotiated numerous multi-million dollar business critical contracts well in excess of $100 million. John also has a notable background with jury and bench trials, and has been a vital asset in resolving complex multi-million dollar arbitrations. He has published appellate cases in Texas, Colorado, and Virginia, and given construction and insurance speeches in Las Vegas, Nevada.  When not at work, John and his family take advantage of the many great activities offered by Colorado’s great outdoors, especially fly-fishing.
